A New Resource for You – NonProfit Direct: The NonProfit National Resource Directory

February 10, 2012 – GrantStation and NonProfit Direct (publishers of NonProfit Direct: The NonProfit National Resource Directory) recently partnered to begin delivery of the weekly newsletter, the GrantStation Insider, to the thousands of organizations now served by Nonprofit Direct. The Nonprofit Direct: NonProfit National Resource Directory is a one-stop-shop for nonprofits looking for the resources necessary to succeed. GrantStation’s CEO, Cynthia Adams, talked with Marcia Bloomberg, CEO of The Bloomberg Group and founder of NonProfit Direct.

According to Ms. Bloomberg, she created NonProfit Direct in December 2008 as a solo venture. “I still do most of the work on the resources and the website myself, but I hope to grow it beyond what one person can manage,” she said.  Ms. Bloomberg, who worked for nonprofits in New England and Ohio for 25 years, wants to continue to contribute to the nonprofit sector, which she believes is “an indispensable and essential component of our society.”

Ms. Bloomberg said, “NonProfit Direct began as a listing of consultants, coaches, vendors and other specialists helping the nonprofit sector survive and thrive and has evolved to include regular teleseminars on topics of interest and challenge to nonprofits, a monthly e-newsletter, and a nonprofit resource library with more resources to come.”

NonProfit Direct serves two constituencies:  One is nonprofit organizations that take advantage of the resources provided; the other includes the consultants and vendors serving the nonprofit sector.

“Nonprofit leadership has challenges such as fundraising, planning for the future, and governance that can be addressed by the expertise and experience of those listed in NonProfit Direct’s consultant’s directory,” said Ms. Bloomberg.

“What I like about NonProfit Direct is that consultants, coaches, vendors and other specialists serving nonprofits can have a full page in the directory in as many service categories as they feel are appropriate to their work,” said Ms. Adams. “I believe there are over 80 categories of service now listed.”

NonProfit Direct meets the needs of these two groups by offering teleseminars that feature a consultant’s experience on a topic of concern to nonprofits.  The resource library features additional material by experts in the nonprofit field.

“We use social media to inform the nonprofit sector about news and trends impacting 501c3′s and as a way to promote our listed specialists.  NonProfit Direct also offers a free monthly download of material that can help nonprofits address a variety of issues.  Each download is an opportunity to share a consultant’s knowledge,” said Ms. Bloomberg.

There are more than 225 consultants, coaches, vendors, and specialists listed in the directory that are dedicated to helping the nonprofit sector survive and thrive. There are experts in nonprofit governance, nonprofit crisis management, starting a nonprofit organization, and nonprofit marketing plans to name just a few service areas. In addition to the consultant’s directory, various teleseminars, a monthly e-newsletter, and the resource library are also available. You can learn more about this resource by visiting http://www.nonprofit-direct.com.
